Dear Diary,
I’m nearly dead. My mum is going to kill me as soon as I leave my room. She is boiling mad! So that’s my last will.
I want to give my clothes and cosmetics to my best friend – Amy. Please, don’t let my stupid younger sister touch them.  My comfortable bed is going to belong to my sweet puppy. Oh, and please, don’t forget to tell Puszek that I love him. And finally I will give my favourite CD with Justin Bieber’s signature to my friend from Canada – only she understand my love and I think she deserves this treasure. I think that’s everything I have to share among my nearest friends. So now I can say goodbye to parties, dates and fun  and say hello to grounding.
Oh. But one moment. You don’t know anything about what happened this evening.  I promise I will lie no more. Seriously.
Everything started one week ago. You know Greg, don’t you? I told you about him so often! He is the most handsome guy in my whole school! But that’s not the whole point. He is the captain of our football team! Please, don’t say that you would be able to keep both your feet on the ground if he came up to you and invited you to his party. Yeeeees, you guessed. I was delighted. But there was only one problem.  I had promised my mother to take care of Katy on the Saturday. After a few hours of discussion with Amy I decided to lie to my mother.

Oh, come on! Don’t look at me this way! It was only one time! So I told my mother that I need to do my homework because my history teacher had forced us into writing a looooong essay. And she believed me! Amy was supposed to spend the evening in the library because she had a biology test next Monday, so she promised me that she will give me a call if she sees my mother.
So everything was determined. I was on cloud nine. I dolled up and I put on my big sweater of course to keep my mother thinking that I will study in the library. Having packed my bag I closed my room and got out.  After a while I reached the nearest bus stop. I had a few minutes before the bus arrival so I took off my horrible sweater and made sure that I look perfect. I breathed a sigh of relief when I finally got on the bus. Now it was the matter of about 5 minutes because Greg’s house was located directly in front of the bus stop.
AND FINALLY!
After leaving the bus I immediately heard the music. I knocked on the door and after a while he opened. Yeees, I nearly lost my consciousness. But let’s not go off the topic of my tragic history. Obviously, I was over the moon. I was having fun with the most handsome guy in my school, everybody was smiling and everything was perfect! Okay….. till the moment I got a massage from Amy. Your mother saw me, she is in the library and wants to see U, because she has some snacks for U – I froze in horror for a while and out of blue I ran to the bus stop. I know, my mates probably thought that I am mad but in this very moment reaching the library as fast as it was possible was the most important thing for me. Bad luck! There was no bus in 1 hour… I decided to run. I had never thought that I can run so long and so fast but after a few minutes I saw the public library in the distance.
I run into one of the rooms in library and you know what? I realized that I was standing  breathless in the middle of a crowd of seniors. But it isn’t the worst point of the whole story… Suddenly I heard my mother’s voice behind me.
It turned out that my mother gave an advertisement on the Internet to help my class write this essay. She gathered all people who remember or took part in the Second World War and live not far from my place of living. So I was standing there in a perfect make up and mini-dress in front of people who just wanted to help poor students.
Horrible feeling. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
As you probably know my mother was furious… She took me home and now I am here.
That’s it.
Wish me good luck!

PLOT IN THE TWIST
I’m 17 years old, my name is Anna… And these are two facts about me that I’m sure about. Month ago I had been happy, absolutely normal and worried just about my English essay. Now I feel like somebody stole my personality. Suddenly I woke up as another person, who is lost in a terrifying, unfamiliar world! My life has changed from a fairy tale into a nightmare.
It all started with a lie…

On one of the rainiest, cloudiest and ugliest Mondays in October I didn’t want to go to school. I tried to pretend a terrible headache but my cruel parents didn’t let me stay home. They think missing classes is a crime. I complained the whole breakfast and pushed myself to go out of my warm and cozy home. I faced two hours of physics in the morning but during the lunch break I suddenly felt bad. This time for real. I was sick. I had strong dizzy feeling and almost blacked out. My boyfriend Nick rescued me from breaking my skull on the floor and decided to go hospital. I tried to oppose because I thought it was just an ordinary autumn cold and all I needed was hot tea and a fluffy blanket but Nick was firm and also scared that something serious could happen to me. He was a boyfriend sent for me from heaven. He always thought about other people first, always was ready to lend a helping hand. In this miserable October we had been together 3 years already, as couple. As neighbors we had been the closet friends the whole life. Since I remember Nick always stood by my side and in the age of 17 I was already sure I had found my better half and my soul mate and I was ready to marry him and be together forever as happy as my parents, who had celebrated their 20th anniversary last year. I was always so grateful that I had a chance to meet him and believed all his choices, that’s why I eventually agreed on going to see a doctor. In the reception hall I started to cough with blood and I was struck with fear. Nick ran for help, I was becoming weaker and weaker in seconds. When two nurses came with a wheelchair to take me on some tests I couldn’t move my legs. I didn’t feel them at all. From their scared faces I read that the situation became seriously dangerous. I got a bed, my parents came, doctors were examining me and giving cures but I was getting worse and worse. I couldn’t breathe, my lungs were on fire with every inhale. I had terrible rush on the whole body, I felt like my beating heart would want to break my ribs from inside the chest. Nick was there all the time and only his warm hands gave me hope that doctors would find out what was going on with me and would bring me back to life. And then Nick disappeared. I was too weak even too talk, fighting with pain. They told me my liver stopped working and I needed an immediate operation. I saw my mum crying, I knew without donor I would die. Did I care? All I thought about was Nick and what had happened that he left me…

And just after the liver transplantation, when I woke up by some miracle I heard doctors talking. Their words terrified me to death. Nick had the symptoms of my disease! His body was breaking down just like mine but faster. His lungs were already out of order and he couldn’t breathe on his own, he was there where I had been two days ago! I knew what was in front of him- cirrhosis of the liver. For doctors it was a tough nut to crack. What kind of disease could hit two people at once? They checked our houses, standing on the same street, but there were no poisons, no fungus or toxins that could give effects like this. They found nothing in our school and ruled out venereal diseases. I knew time was passing, I heard cruel sounds of the clock hanging in my room. If solution wouldn’t come on time, Nick would need a new liver and he might be not as lucky as me with finding a donor. None of possibilities suited our cases and only genetic disease would explain all the symptoms appeared on two different people. Chances that I and Nick have the same, rare, almost unprecedented change in DNA code was so little that almost insane. But it was also the only left opportunity to help us so they decided to go for it and test it…

The other day I woke and I suddenly felt better, breathing was easier, my heart was calmer… I knew they found the right therapy which had helped me and which would rescue Nick’s liver. My happiness didn’t last long, though. One of my doctors came to my room, her face was miserable. I remembered her from the worst days when she had been with me the whole nights and only she had given me pieces of information about Nick. I felt she understood me. I still hear her words when she said: I think you should know… Maybe it’s not my role to tell you this, but I’m your doctor and you require information about disease and treatment. She sounded like she was searching for explanation and for permission from herself to tell me the truth. Finally I heard: The disease is curable. It’s genetic. 2% of population has this kind of DNA malformation. Anna, it’s not possible you’re not related… I didn’t understand. Anna…You and Nick are siblings…
That’s my story. My father was unfaithful 18 years ago. Nobody knew the child who was born next door is my brother. Nobody knew I fell in love with my brother. Nobody warned me something like this could ever happen. My parents are divorced now. I can’t look into mirror without nauseate and what’s the worst- I still miss Nick. He was my everything: best friend, love for life, future and brother also. And it all started with lie… 18 years ago.

A lie has no legs

Josh was very handsome and attractive man. He went to a secondary school. He had two big weaknesses : he was a  daltonist and a compulsive liar.

It was a tipical monday morning for Josh. After the parties which had lasted all weekend he woke up at 7.40 a.m. brushed his teeth, ate breakfast and ran to the school to make it to first lesson. He entered to the classroom (of course he was late) and sat down.

-What happened this time, Josh? Earthquake, flood, your pet died?

– Mrs Clark, I really wanted to be on time but…

– You better go over what you want to say. It’s your fifteenth lateness in this school year and it’s  merely October!

-Mrs Clark, this time the situation was really serious. I was going to wake up and suddenly I heard a terrible noise. It was a woman’s scream. I ran to the neighbour’s house. The door was closed so I pised it. I saw the old Mr Brown who was hitting  his wife with a leather strap. So what should I do? I should leave poor Mrs Brown with her problem because I can’t be late to school? I called the police and I stayed with the women to the time they arrived.

-Oh really? Poor old woman. If I’ve got enough time today I will visit this house, ask how I can help and check if it’s  your another lie. Her address I will check at register.

– Good idea Mrs Clark.

During the lunch break Josh was eating his sandwiches. He and another popular children from the school always sit at the same oval table. It was located at the center of the canteen. After few minutes his girlfriend sat next to him.

– Hi baby, I have a really big problem. Mrs Clark thinks that my neighbour is a  victim of violence. She wants to visit her house and then she will find out that it was a lie! – said Josh and tried to kiss Emily.

– Don’t touch me! You don’t know anything about  problems!

– Honey, what’s wrong?

– Are you kidding me? Tell me, who is she.

-Who?

-This gilr who was dancing with you all night at Tom’s party.

-I told you that my grandma is sick. She has a pneumonia. So I was…

– in hospital? I was there and the doctor said me that she wasn’t there. I went to your house to talk with you and there your parents were very surprised  why I didn’t come with you fed the dogs from the pound.

-Really? I told you about my grandma… that  means…… that I went to the pound this weekend. Sorry honey …

-Oh, come on. I’m not so stupid. I called Tom and he told me everything.

– I’ll kill him! Honey it’s so irresponsible!  I don’t know how can I apologize you. Maybe, you let me invite you to…

-Enough! It’s over

-Emily, are you kidding?  Please, give me the last chance.

-No Josh. You are addicted. I wish that every lie you lied becomes  true!  Goodbye.

Josh came back home. He heard the doorbell so he opened the door. His best friend heard something about all situation with Emily and he wanted to cheer him up. They were talking and playing video games. Suddenly, he got a message: “Hi handsome, yesterday evening was the best. Can we meet this evening? :)”

-What’s up?

– OH MY GOD, Emily was right. Can you remind me with whom  I was dancing at yesterday’s party?

-Amy Donson. Pretty girl

– She wants to meet me tonight.

-What a luck! Your girl gave you up and a second one invited you on a date!

– Are you crazy? I love Emily and only her. I will write Amy that I’m on a mountain trip with you…

– Josh, what are we doing here? Have you some kind of super powers? How on earth have you teleported us on Snowdon???

– I don’t have any idea. Hurry up. We must come back. Tomorrow is a school day!

Josh and Tom were lucky and a couple of tourist gave them a ride so they were at home at 5 p.m.  Josh was exhausted so he overslept. He was late when he entered to classroom again.

– Good morning Mrs Clark. I’m really sorry, it is the last time.

-Sit down Josh. I want to apologize you. Yesterday, I was at your neightbour’s house. Mrs Brown was scared and she was all in bruises. Fortunately, his husband got a prison term and is serving some time in prison. I’m so sorry that I didn’t believe in your heroism.

-What?!?

-I know that you think that I only want to  force you to own up to your lie but you are a brave young man. I was talking with Mrs Simson and they will write about your story in our school’s newspaper. And now lets continue the lesson…

During the long break Josh was sitting with Tom.

-Josh, can you give me this blue pen? I must finish my homework- asked his friend.

-Which one? I can only see pink and black pens.

– I’m so sorry. I totally forgot you are colour-blind . I’ll take the pink one.

-Never mind. Here you go…

-How did you do that?

-What?

-This pen was blue and now it’s pink. Good trick. You must be a magician.

And then Josh received  a message: “Honey, We are going to the hospital. Something happened with your grandma. Doctors speculate that it could be lung cancer… We will be back late, your dinner is in the oven. Love, Mom”. The boy started crying.

-Josh, calm down. What happened?

-Everything…- Josh tried to say with tears in his eyes – everything what I said: the mountain trip, my neighbour Mrs Brown, the pen and now my grandma’s sick, became true… I can’t believe it how it … EMILY, she told me it when she gave me up. I must find her.

Josh ran to the girl’s house. When she saw him she did’t want to open the door and talk with him. But she noticed that he had cried and because she was very sensitive she decided to give him five minutes.

-Emily, you were right. I miss you so much, I still love you and I can’t live without you. I understand that lying is wrong and unfair. And maybe you don’t believe me now but every lie which I told become true as you said!

-What?

-Yes, the pen became pink, Mr Brown was arrested, my grandma is in hospital. Emily I don’t know what I should do to fix it.

-Josh, I love you. Please forgive me, I told it when I was furious but I didn’t want to it happened.  Everything is my fault.

-It isn’t your fault, only mine. One thing is sure. I will never lie again!

When Jim said these words he woke up in his room on Saturday noon and he ran to the kitchen.

– Honey- said Josh’s mum- You are sleeping too long. You must hurry up to make it to the pound.

-No mum, I’m not going there, I made it up just to go to Tom’s party this evening. But it doesn’t matter. How does my grandma feel?

-Grandma? Really good, she arrived with your granddad to Italy yesterday night .

-She isn’t sick?

-Everything is ok? You owned up to lying and you suggest that my mom should be sick.

-It’s a long story. Emily was on the way to me when I… EMILY! I must meet her. Bye mom, I will come back in a few hours.

Josh went to Emily’s house and told her about his dream. He understood that his behaviour was bad and he apologized his girlfriend, his parents and Mrs Clark. He decided not to tell lies anymore.

THE END
